Night Noodle Markets 2014, Birrarung Marr

I love nights out in the city. It gives me an opportunity to fall in love with Melbourne all over again. Not to mention falling in love among delicious small plates of food! My cousins and I went to the market on a wet Saturday and decided to come back for another try.

We're thinking of coming back again because we totally missed out on the second and third levels!

So we returned on a Monday night. It wasn't as busy as a weekend but it was still bustling with people. I'm not sure which dish to recommend at this point because we liked it all which was quite rare. If I really have to pick one, it would have to be the Wagyu Beef and Jellyfish Rice Vermicelli Salad. The flavor combination was simple but well balanced. The right amount of crunch and freshness, it's the perfect summer food.

We love this crunchy fried chiken from Mr. Miyagi. The best part about this dish was the mayonnaise! No kidding! It's not your normal Japanese mayonnaise. I like that it's a lighter version of the dip and we used this in every other dish we had. Yes, we're obsessed with it!

Charcoal Grilled Chicken Wings. Well, they're charcoal grilled chicken wings. The marinade was pungent and spicy. Not for the faint of heart but if you're into spicy food like us, this will be an easy one to devour.

Cheesy Okonomiyaki @ Zagyoza. This was a cheesy version of the Japanese pancake with kimchi on top. We waited very long for this to come out but I'm glad it was well worth it. If you're looking for a slightly different take on okonomiyaki and you like cheese, this is it.

Chili Soft Shell Crab. Think Singaporean mud crab but on a soft shell crab. Love the sauce. Love the fried buns too. Eat it while it's hot! It will get soggy if it sits out too long.
