Our Japanese style breakfast came from Cafe Roji Usagi, a very homey breakfast space in the Gion district. A mom cooks the meals here and she hires students or even her daughter to serve their customers part time.
What I like about the place is the fact that it is part of a local's house. The place where it used to be the living room is now a breakfast area for customers. They have a nice garden outside with stone lanterns and a smallish pond. And a library in the living room too.
Our hearty Japanese style breakfast. Admittedly, this breakfast kept us going until 2pm (I think this was around 7.30-8am). As you can see, there's a nice variety of small things here which takes some preparation I believe the night before. The soup, tamagoyaki and fish were cooked that day but the side dishes came out cold. They were still tasty. One of them was a stewed cabbage dish while the other one was also a stew with sausage, potato and konjac jelly.
