A simple, warming soup that I picked up from different recipe blogs on the internet. I figured that there have been so many combinations of spices, that I chose to use this easy one:
Ingredients
Optional: chopped fresh coriander
Procedure:
Heat oil in a soup pot and place ingredients from #2 to #8. Saute for a few minutes until fragrant.
Add the vegetable stock and wait for it to boil. Place the red lentils and cook for 20 minutes.

- 1 tsp whole cumin seeds
- 1 tsp ground turmeric
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
- 2 cloves chopped garlic
- 1/2 inch sliced ginger
- 1/2 chopped onion
- 1 sliced carrot
- 4 cups vegetable stock
- 1 cup washed red lentils
